The mission of the Caroline’s Room Fund is to ease the trauma of families with children in neonatal intensive care. Caroline’s Rooms are designed to provide a safe haven within the NICU where parents can meet in privacy with their child’s caregivers, plot strategies, and deal with outcomes. It is where, in the midst of crisis and struggle, families can find comfort, peace, and a sense of home.

A Starry Night for Caroline

A celebration of life, family, and jazz
to benefit The Caroline’s Room Fund

Saturday, April 5, 2008, The Hartford Golf Club
West Hartford, Connecticut

The Caroline’s Room Fund was the beneficiary of a highly successful fundraiser held last April 5th at The Hartford Golf Club in West Hartford, Connecticut. The evening featured fabulous live and silent auction items, elegant dining, and entertainment generously provided by international jazz star Thelonious Monk, Jr. Moving tributes were given by parents who had personal stories to tell about their experiences in the Caroline’s Room at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center; a nurse shared her perspectives on what the room means to both the families and caregivers in the NICU; and a “preemie” parent talked about how much he wished his family had had the benefit of a Caroline’s Room when his child was in the NICU. Nearly 200 guests attended the event, from all walks of life and from far and wide. The generosity of so many sponsors and donors, not to mention an incredible corps of volunteers, made the evening possible. It was a night filled with laughter, some tears, amazing music, and much gratitude. Not only were significant funds raised to help support future Caroline’s Rooms, but awareness was raised and hearts were inspired. It was all we could have hoped for and more.

The success of A Starry Night for Caroline was due to the incredible generosity of so many people. We thank everyone who attended the event, and we especially want to extend our deepest thanks to:
